Leather bedspread/quilt cover?
Hey everyone
So would it be possible to buy a real leather quilt or bedspread? I saw a question before and it intrigued me but no answers was given.
Well, it is possible. Thats a whole lot of leather.
Couple things to consider.
1. If you want it as seamless as possible, you will have to go with cowhide upholstery leather. Hides average about 55 ft sq. But this option is heavy.
2. You can go with a garment leather which is lighter weight, but the hides are smaller and therefore you will need more of them, therefore more seams. But If it is made out of a nice goat or pig, it wouldn’t be much heavier than a heavy down comforter.
3. Personally, I would only do one side of it in leather, and the other side cloth. This is due to cost, plus leather is not comfortable to sleep in.
If I were to make one for one of my customers, I would charge about $800-$1200 for it. (For option 2) Over $1300, for option 1.
