I block a shawl crochet … never done before … Ask!
So I just made a shawl crochet lace shawl on Ravelry artificial shell if it is a member. Here are a couple of photos of phone. It is made with cotton. A mat is essentially water but then spread on a towel drying. I worry, because you know if you leave your clothes in the washing machine long, strange smell? What if my shawl and a towel to do? The other way is to flatten her shawl on a board, takes a damp towel and then iron the towel, so that a steam towel to block the shawl. This Thus, sounds better to me, but it seems that maybe this is not always the best method? So basically, I need some advice from someone who has done this before!
Well, the woman who regularly blocks of wool, mohair, alpaca, silk, cashmere and houses …. Get your self some boxes of T-bolts (rust) a lingerie bag and wash some wool. Turn the shawl in lingerie bag and zip closed. Fill the washer with warm water and add a little wool wash (not much, not required) and a little shake to distribute the machine wash wool. Press the bag and shawl in water and off the machine. Stay away from a hour or two. Now, the advancement of the machine in the vault final (wash wool need not be rinsed) and let the water run for a minute or more (it becomes part of water). Take the bag dry and then throw the shawl over her bed (It is not wet enough to hurt anyone) and use bolt to secure the right to bed, gently pull the form (Most child can take a lot of stretching, but if it is acrylic, simply slip in no more big blocks) and let it dry on the bed. Most of the child, including the weight of combed wool, dry 2-6 hours without rot. If it is a goal a shawl on the fan to keep moist air moves over it. Yes, you can cook with steam, but once again the acrylic and heat do not mix well and can not be pressed evenly. Acrylics can just machine wash in gentle cycle with cold water and dried just after the complete cycle of the machine. Do not put in the dryer. Very good job, too.
