Need help choosing a down comforter?
I am about to place an order for a down comforter, and just noticed it said 100% Cotton Damask 330 TC with 550 fill power.
From what i understood, Damask is a type of raised print on linens, but i’ve read nothing that talks about the quality or softness of it…i.e. Like Egyptian Cotton.
Does someone know if i’m about to waste money?
Also, what is the best size i should look for in a twin comforter if i want it to fit with a wide range of duvets (or what’s the most common size)
I’m more concerned about what Damask Cotton feels like and if it will last.
I would suggest that you invest in a Scandia Down comforter. The things that you want to look for are the quality of down inside…European is the lowest that they sell and Siberian the highest quality. Also, the fill power determines the size of the down cluster. The higher the fill power, the larger the cluster. What that means is that a larger down cluster will trap more air to keep you warmer and it will also keep it’s shape and loft longer. 550 fill power is the lowest fill power that Scandia Down sells. As for the fabric and the thread count…it all means nothing if it is not leak proof. Scandia Down sells a range of different thread counts, including Silk with various thread counts and they are all leak proof, guaranteed for as long as you own your comforter. You should always use your comforter with a duvet cover, so it doesn’t really matter how soft the fabric is on the outside of the comforter, you are going to cover it! Scandia’s twin comforter is oversized…71″X86″. I would highly recommend the Provence. It does not have a damask weave, it is a sateen with a 400TC lyocel/cotten fabric. Lyocel is derived from the Beechwood tree and has the same features and benefits as cotton. Scandia Down also offers a maintence and restoration program for all their down products. You can have it washed, re-filled, holes patched, etc. for a small charge.
