What is the point of having a sign saying “Use other door”?
Why do I go to many public buildings and see this ridiculous sign. Every time I go to Taco Bell, I see this. What is the point of having a set of double doors of only one of them functions. Is it just for looks? Why do people insist on having only one of them navigable while the other remains stationary?
Often times it’s because the business needs the space in front of the door for displays. I know of one restaurant that permanently locked one door because people would use it to leave without paying. Now they have one door to enter and one to leave.
The sign is just a way to let people know that the business is still open, it’s just that the door is not in use. Without the sign, some people may try to enter and upon finding the door locked would assume the business is closed and leave. When you think about it, without the sign, employees would spend a lot of time yelling and pointing trying to get people to use the other door.
