Will switching from AMEX Gold to Green hurt my score?
I currently hold an AMEX Gold card, which is really useless, aside from their “membership rewards” program, and if you fly frequently and want access to shows, events. I mean okay, it’s not totally useless, if you’re an active person and enjoy holding a card that actually HAS benefits unlike others, but I’m sick of the annual fees and the fact that it’s not an actual credit card, but a charge card.
But since for whatever reason I can’t currently get approved of any of the Blue cards or what not, I was going to switch to the Green.
Is this card just as good? Also the annual fee is lower, so I won’t have to end up paying $500+ just to carry it in my pocket every few years. Even for a wealthy person, that’s ridiculous for a silly little card.
Anyways, will switching cards from Gold to Green hurt my FICO score any?
THey have complicated calculation methods and not sure if they really take everything into fact.
If I switch, it will be the same accnt #, so no closing.
No, it shouldn’t hurt your score… Most of the time AMEX doesn’t even pull your credit for increases! I like the green card because of the rewards. Yes it is just as good as the Gold… I always get invites to upgrade, but I think the fees for the Gold are just outrageous.
