my aunt told the attorney she was the omly living heir and got all my grandmas estate. what can we do?
my great grand mother had a will leaving everything to my uncle. he passed away before she did. everything reverted back to my grand mother and when she died,my aunt told the attorney she was the only living heir .is their something we can do?
no she is not the only child living.this was my great grandma. her daughter my grandma is living.
Yes, tell your mother (or if she isn’t living, you do it) to contact the lawyer who handled the estate to let him know that there were other possible heirs. Your aunt could get into serious trouble and she may even have to repay her ill-gotten gains. She was foolish to do this when it could be easily proved that there were other heirs. Mind you, the lawyer was equally foolish to accept her self-serving statement at face value. He should have done some investigating himself. You may be able to make a complaint to the state bar association but first see if that lawyer will help you. Good luck.
