Is my African Grey trying to mate?
My African Grey has a stand in my bed room and also a proper cage downstairs. He’s lately been climbing onto my bed. He puffs up and scrapes his foot against the bed. Is this a mating ritual? He is also plucking feathers.
Note: This is a very loved and happy african grey. I give him A LOT of time and affection and his diet is great. Maybe he’s just plucking cos of mating season?
He would not be plucking for mating reasons, and there are more reasons to pluck other than food and attention. There are allergies, parasites, etc. Take him to a veterinarian to see what’s up so you can catch it early. Plucking is huge, must be taken very seriously, and you must act now.
I’m not if that’s a mating ritual, African Grey’s are extremely smart, and he just may be being silly.
When my African Grey tries to mate with me. He droops his works, regurgitates, makes funny noises and tries to feed me.
