Wash a king size comforter at home?

I have a top loader washer machine, can I wash my king size comforter in it? As for the size I have no idea but I can fit about 8-10 pairs of jeans in it.
I washed it and it came out just fine. It had plenty of room to allow the agitator to do the cleaning!

Nope, it will be too small for agitation and the washing will suffer. Take it to the laundrymat and use the XTRA size front loader with a bit of soap added with the dry comforter. Do not add anymore in the dispenser. You can add a tiny bit of fabric softener or use sheets in the dryer. Dry on LOW heat for a longer time. Medium or high heat can cause damage to the inside batting.
