When do you switch your kids from heavy jackets to full winter coats?
We’ve just gone through our first “snow storm” of the season this weekend. Temperatures were only down to about 24 degrees, but dropped to 14 degrees with the wind chill. Until now we have only been putting my 18 month old in his warm jacket to take him places, but I’m wondering when to switch him to his winter coat. My thinking now is that if he isn’t going to be playing outside, his jacket is fine for the trips from the door to the car and back again. But, what are your thoughts and what do you do?
We have a 2 piece jacket that we got our almost 19 month old..and it has a fall liner that is good with a sweater for the chilly days..but we got down to 30 degrees one morning so we put on the winter part of it…
If you are just going from the car to the house and back again..I would just put him in his warm jacket and a hat and just have a blanket on hand..that way you don’t have to take the big bulky jacket off to have him in his carseat nice and snuggly…also of course warm up the car before hand and there you go…
We are waiting for the first now within the next month…Since we live in Western New York now instead of SUNNY HOT Florida..it will be a BIG change for the baby since he has never been around this cold weather…
