Any ideas on cheap fabric to make long drapes?
I need like 18yds of the same fabric to make my own curtains, it would cost a fortune to buy drapes for all my windows w/ that long luxurious look, any ideas?
sheets are always a great possibility. Also, fabric end lotters (warehouses)–they buy up odd lots and sell for a fraction of the cost (like 1-2$ a yard)–depending on where you live you can ask around or look through yellow pages (that’s where the DIY shows get fabrics). Think about using unusual fabrics as well (or ones from other industries–canvas from boating stores for example)–muslin makes a filmy exotic drape that you can dye. You can always line them or install cheap blinds behind for light control. Dyes & fabric paints as well as exotic trim can always spice up simple fabrics.
