Martha Stewart Unit Sues Sears Canada Over Royalties (Update3)

Nov. 7 (Bloomberg) — A Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. unit sued Sears Canada Inc., the country’s second-biggest department-store chain, for C$1.8 million ($2 million), accusing it of failing to pay royalties owed under a licensing agreement.
Sears Canada refused to make a Sept. 28 payment of C$1,821,181 for the Canadian company’s sale of Martha Stewart- branded products, MSO IP Holdings Inc. said today in a complaint filed in Manhattan federal court.
Sears Canada began selling Martha Stewart products in September 2003 under a licensing agreement due to expire in August, New York-based MSO IP said. Royalties based on sales are owed quarterly to Martha Stewart Living, the media company focused on home décor and cooking, according to the complaint.
“Sears Canada has indicated that it will not pay the minimum royalty amount or indeed future obligations to pay such amounts,” MSO IP said. It is seeking damages of C$1.8 million, plus interest.

I think Martha is a greedy thief – which matches the criminal record she has.
I have never purchased Martha’s stuff, as its usually too expensive. I do shop at Sears – but mostly for clothes.
