Washing a mink blanket at home..?
Well my husband is stationed in South Korea ATM. We purchased a mink blanket..and it NEEDS to be washed but I can’t read the washing instructions (it’s all in Korean) and there’s like no dry cleaners here (except the military one on post which is for..well military clothing pretty much). Does anyone know how to wash a mink blanket at home?
While the name may be a bit misleading, a mink blanket that you’ll find readily available is not typically made of animal fur at all. The typical Korean mink blanket is 100% acrylic, so while having that luxurious bedding that feels like real mink, you don’t have to worry about your conscience.
Most of these blankets are made and imported from Korea, thus the term Korean mink blankets.
Cleaning of the acrylic Korean faux mink is much simpler. Machine wash on “delicate” in COLD water. Use the machine’s shortest cycle and an ordinary bleach-free detergent. Air or line dry only. DO NOT PUT IN THE DRYER!!! Even the lowest dryer setting, including “fluff”, will permanently damage this fake fur. Once dry, take item outside and vigorously shake free any loose fur fibers. Do Not Dry Clean. Dry cleaning chemicals will reduce softness.
