Dorm room decorating help …?
Being comfortable in a room I have to stay in for a long period of time is extremely important to me I know it will never feel just like home but I at least would like to feel comfortable in it ya know so the dorm room I will be staying in this coming semester is very depressing the walls are kind of like an off white the furniture is light wood and the carpet is burgundy at home my room is all white because I’m in love with the contemporary and modern style is there anything I can do to kind of modernize the room … I have a black and white comforter so far and some really cute solid white kid robot toy statues any other ideas? …
oh how I miss my dorm room!!
I would get some funky/modern patterned fabric for your curtains, just buy the fabric and use those clip rings on a curtain rod, that way it’s cheap and you don’t have to really sew anything, just fold the fabric over and clip! That will warm up the windows.

You could take some pieces of black felt, or any other fabric (again cheap) and do a checkerboard pattern on one of your walls, or a stripe, or something kind of modernish, something to flow with your bedspread.
A zebra print rug would be neat thrown over your burgundy carpet, and that’s black and white.
If you want some color, throw in some super cozy throw pillows for your bed, or a chair in the room!
My dorm room walls were NASTY, they were supposed to be white and they had scratches and all kinds of awful skuffs and stuff on them, so I bought some white paint and re-painted the whole room. No one seemed to notice that my walls were any different than any one elses but it made me feel better!!
My dorm also had huge bulletin boards on both sides of the room, and I took some a khaki colored linen fabric and covered my bulletin boards with that, and did some horizontal and vertical lines of black ribbon over them to tuck pictures and my A+ term papers under (yeah right!). I did really clean lines in my dorm, the “geometrical” ribbon pattern on the boards, I had lots of khaki and earth tones, stripes, stuff that I think is comforting. Lots of FABRIC!!
To keep everything put away and keep your look streamlined, you need lots of organization stuff, utilize the space under your bed, in your closet, etc… The more order the better it’ll feel! Some great filing stuff for your desk will help make it feel fresh and clean!!
