Is Old Navy a nice place to work? How can I get hired?
I’m seventeen and trying to decide where to apply. If I’m correct in thinking that I have to be eighteen to work there, that works because I won’t have much time to work until after my birthday anyway.
Anyway, I was at a store today and I saw some messy piles of jeans and started folding. I was asked a few times if I worked there and it made me laugh because I’m just a neat freak! I worked at Dairy Queen soon after turning sixteen but I wasn’t ready for that yet, because it destroyed my grades. However, as a senior and with most of my friends attending college anyway, plus with needing to earn and save cash for when I go to college myself, I was thinking Old Navy would be a great choice… Plus I’d love the discount.
ANYWAY… is it a nice place to work? Any thoughts? Or maybe even a suggestion for a different place? Would they even hire me at age seventeen? And whats the best way to apply and make a really good impression?
I already answered your other question, so perhaps you have a better idea of what the job is like. Hiring age is 16, so you’re OK. You have retail/food experience at DQ which is good. If your’e a neat freak, then you’d love cleaning up the messes at Old Navy. I myself find it very theraputic to be in front of a trashed denim wall and then look at it 2 hours later when I’m done folding and say, now THAT looks good! lol
If you get an interview, mention that you take pride in making sure your work is complete and looks good, but that you’ll work at a good pace. They dont want a total perfectionist that is going to take forever to fold each shirt and pair of jeans. There is too much to do and too little time. The discount is great — good luck saving money — it’s so tempting to buy buy buy. lol
