Supporting your child's journey to learn to read a play: the preschool child
Most parents do more than believe in supporting the travel their children to read. In this article I hope to reinforce what we already do and add some ideas to your repertoire with specific proposals that go beyond the repeated often: "Read to your children." As our children go to their young children to preschool and nursery school and at some point most parents feel a twinge of anxiety when asked: "When my son learn to read?" Parents who had a difficult time reading skills can be particularly nervous about the success of their children in reading. All parents want the transformation of non-readers to go smoothly for your child (indeed, we want things right for our children) and there are many things parents can do to facilitate learning this essential skill. The result is that children come to school with very different experience. Studies have shown that children in a class may have had over 1000 hours of exposure to print while another may have 00 to 10 hours. A child could be heard 2,000 words per hour, while another had understood that 616. It makes a big difference in the prediction what child is a good reader. trajectories are acquired at the beginning of reading and children in low trajectory tend to stay on the roads and falling increasingly more behind the school. Despite excellent start at the beginning, some students still struggle with reading in the upper classes. It is important that parents know that all children can learn to read, although some may need specialized instruction from expert teachers of reading. This means they learn differently they are no less intelligent. smart children may have difficulty learning to read, but with proper support and instruction, they become readers.
Support your preschool child
In fact, reading with your child and talk with your child is the cornerstone of learning. It is never too early to start reading your child. Do not worry about variety. Read and reread hundreds, even free of all times (long after they have learned by heart), brings extensive experience of language. Of equal importance to talking about reading with your child, especially in the early years, when a child spends most of his time with an adult. Talk to your child about the world around him, who sees, hears and feels, knows and feels. Tell him to plan the day, what is expected of him, as voices, etc. Enhancing the skills of conversation and talk to the child without correction with little logic or truth of his words, or the accuracy of their pronunciation. These talks to acquire language skills, vocabulary, comfort and confidence, and help form a bond between you and your child. In addition, spend as much time as you can manage your child your full attention. With so many other demands on our time, this can be a formidable challenge, but the benefits are incalculable. Much attention of parents is irreplaceable in building child's self esteem and confidence. He said he is a communicator with an overriding ie. What are your first and most important lessons of the child.
Few children have access to care of adults every minute of every day, but The good news is that many important learning that occurs independently. To facilitate this learning, when your child complains of boredom, you can tell him: "Go and read a book." The answer might be: "But I do not read." How can we say: "Attempts have fun watching pictures and words, "or" You can see the photos tell their own story. "Encourage your child to read to stuffed toys or other friends are not real, and when you hear talk in an empty room, just smile and know that it's practical language skills. The way preschoolers watch books independent if the books are interesting and accessible, so make sure your child has a selection of books in his room, some in the playroom and an bookmarks next to the pot. £ sticky strategic positioning or family invites young pre-readers to behave like reading. Some children will be delighted read alone, but you may need to keep a few books hidden in the kitchen for children who prefer to spend most of their time just below your feet!
Just as there are things you can do to improve the course for your child to read, unwittingly, can hinder this process. A word of caution: Do not make comments that can create anxiety in the process of learning to read. No reading (or academic) difficulties you, your spouse or your other brother with experience. Not refer to the process of "hard". If children worry, the largest Inevitably, never learn to read, can respond one of them as a comment:
- Pressed may seem right now, but you are still little.
- I am sure that being an actor, a wonderful day.
- When you go to school, you have to master the task of learning to read.
- With age it becomes easier and easier.
- With the books is an important part of learning to read, and I really love your books!
Finally, both the wonderful literature already available on cassettes and CDs. A great way to enjoy a story well told is listening EB White reading one of his classics: The web of Charlotte and Trumpet of the Swan. The house of the prairie series is also available, like many others in your local library. They are particularly good for for long trips and when the whole family can enjoy, offering opportunities to share and talk in a way that can not happen otherwise. Maintain a relaxed attitude of invitation and pleasure is the key to creating positive, optimistic feelings about learning to read.
