Getting a bedspread made?
I am getting a bedspread made, I already have the fabric and have been talking with upholstery people. I would like the bedspread to lay as flat as possible, it would be more like a coverlet. The people I have been talking to keep throwing out terms I don’t understand. Can you make a bedspread without quilting the whole thing or having some ugly tacking? what are some questions I should be asking the upholstery people and what are some techniques I should know?
i’m confused why you would have upholsterers do a bedspread?
that aside, to me, a bedspread is different from a comforter, which does usually have some quilting to keep all the layers in place. if you are looking for a bedspread only, i don’t see why it should need to be quilted. a bedspread is for minimal warmth and maximum aesthetic…one layer of the fabric you’ve chosen sewn to a backing (no need for it to be ugly – it could even be more of the same fabric you’ve already chosen) should be fine.
also, remember, they are providing a service for you, so if you don’t understand what they’re telling you, HAVE THEM EXPLAIN IT! ;>
