Confederate Versus the Rebel Flag?
I was in African American studies today at my school and I had told my teacher about the rebel flag and how it’s racist. And he told me that there were 2 different flags that we’re used by the Confedrate States of America. The Rebel Flag and the Conferdate and the Rebel Flag. The Rebel flag is the one that people confuse for the real Confedrate flag, the rebel flag is the one with the cross and stars and the reall Confedrate flag was similar to the American flag thats why the CSA stopped using it during the Civil War because they were getting confused by which side was which. I like to know why people claim that the rebel flag is a symbol of “Southern Pride” when it’s clearly not. It represents the battle for slavery and the support for segration and white supremacy. What do you think about this?

I agree with you about the rebel flag and what it represents but like many symbols, it represents different things to different people . I would argue with the supporters of it as a symbol of pride that if its a symbol of southern pride, then what is southern pride? To me southern pride was and is about being in the white superior class and it symbolizes the years and years from slavery to jim crow of white oppression of blacks. I am white and I think the rebel flag is very offensive, but once again, it has different meanings to different people.
