Can I hand wash, in the tub, a small velvet quilt with a lighter colour cotton back?
I want to avoid dry cleaning bill. This is handmade, found in a thrift store. It also has been packed badly, and am wondering if the crease marks will come out if I wash it. It might work to then hang it over some towels on the clothesline?Any feedback appreciated.
A lot depends on what the velvet is made from. If it is a washable material then you should do ok just swishing it in the bathtub. I have hand washed items that say dry clean only as long as the fabric is not acetate. Rayon is washable but wrinkles and requires a hot iron to press out the wrinkles.
