I need a Seamtress in the Broward County, FL area!!??!?
Can anyone suggest a GOOD (I’am very picky) seamtress in the Fort Lauderadale, FL area that can turn, store bought 50″ x 84″ curtains in to four 18″ Square decorative pillows.. Also an estimate of how much this would cost??
Go to a fabric store and they will usually have business cards from local seamstresses who they can recommend. The employees at the cutting counter know their customers and have seen their work and are a good resource to suggest a seamstress in your area.
I am a seamstress who specializes in fabric elements of interior design. I can tell you that pillows are not complex to make but you should have zippers installed rather than have an envelope back closure so your pillows are reversible. And, please be sure to give your seamstress the pillow forms you intend to use as the pillow sizes vary. For instance, an 18″ pillow really is not 18″ anymore. THey are smaller. So, to get a good fitting pillow sleeve, provide the pillow form to the seamstress.
Cost. It all depends on the seamstresses experience and if she has a business or just a sewing hobby. In my area of the USA, I charge a minimum of $10.00 more than the size of the pillow; $28.00 for an 18″ pillow. Which includes an invisible zipper and piping around the outer edges of the pillow.
Always ask a seamstress to give you references and follow through with calls checking those references.
