do i put together the green and white wires (cord) with the yellow and white wires of the dryer?
please give me more etails on how to do it, the dryer has from top to bottom the wires in the following order: red, yellow/white, and black. the power cord has red, black , green and white wires, please let me know if it put the green and white together with the yellow and white wires of the dryer?
This question is asked very often and almost always it is answered incorrectly.Like the first three answers from the first time you asked.There will be a block with three studs to connect the cord to.The two outside studs will be the red and black wires.The center will be the white wire.The green wire will connect to the metal frame of the dryer.There will be a screw for this,it should have a wire connected to it coming from inside the dryer[this is usually a green wire].This wire needs to be removed from the screw.It is a bonding wire from the white [neutral] wire to the dryer frame.With a four wire cord you do not want the neutral bonded to the frame.This bonding wire should be installed with the white[neutral] wire on the center post.This wire is connected to the white[neutral]wire inside so by placing it under the neutral screw you have just disabled it by making it loop from the neutral wire internally to the neutral terminal,but it is still there if the dryer was ever moved to a location that has a three wire hookup.
